The creation of glass objects is believed to date back to ancient Egypt and went as far as the Romans to adorn the noble houses but many centuries must pass before, thanks to Arab and Asian influences, the workmanship becomes an art, the art of glass working.
And this happened in Venice when, to prevent fires on the mainland caused by the glass working process, Murano was destined to be a floating factory.

Since the glass working process is very complex and economically important, the glassmakers were allowed to carry swords to defend themselves and to enjoy some immunities but they could never leave the Republic in order not to spread the secrets of their art.

In our Murano Glass Horses collection you will find horses in two poses: elegant and lively and you can choose your horse with silver or with gold, opaque or transparent, red, white, black or with aventurine, a glass paste with metallic reflections due the presence of lamellar and shiny copper crystals which gives brilliant colors, the use of which was invented in Murano in the seventeenth century (around 1620).
